Business voice mail greetings and are often thought of as necessities that are a bit preferable to phones that just ring and ring. If a phone call goes unanswered the caller might wonder about a number of things – did he dial the right number? Are you still in business? Maybe it will be better to just call your competition? If someone calls after hours or if all your lines are busy, then a voice mail greeting is important. But voice mail greeting can be so much more than most of those you hear these days. 

  • State your company name and tagline
  • State your opening hours
  • Explain why you cannot take their call right now
  • Invite them to leave a message, and ask for their identity and phone number
  • Commit to an expected time to get called back – and do return all phone calls
  • Give your caller alternative options: website, FAQ, email, …
  • Don’t forget to thank them
